MicroFarm
Urban Growth’s MicroFarm program helps youth and their families learn to grow their own food using simple hydroponic techniques. Through the MicroFarm program, participants will:
- Learn the basics of hydroponics and the science of growing food, from germination to harvest
- Learn about climate change, water conservation, and greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs)
- Improve their understanding of nutrition and food systems
- Produce high quality, fresh produce for their school, family, and community
- Assist in the operation of a community MacroFarm
- Host community harvests and events to engage peers, families, and neighborhood residents
- Begin on a career pathway in hydroponic farming, a rapidly growing STEM field
