Urban Growth’s MicroFarm program helps youth and their families learn to grow their own food using simple hydroponic techniques. Through the MicroFarm program, participants will:

  • Learn the basics of hydroponics and the science of growing food, from germination to harvest
  • Learn about climate change, water conservation, and greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs)
  • Improve their understanding of nutrition and food systems
  • Produce high quality, fresh produce for their school, family, and community
  • Assist in the operation of a community MacroFarm
  • Host community harvests and events to engage peers, families, and neighborhood residents
  • Begin on a career pathway in hydroponic farming, a rapidly growing STEM field

Urban Growth’s MacroFarm program provides food for communities without access to healthy, nutritious produce.
